PlayCase (3) Release Notes
It’s with immense excitement and pride that I’m re-introducing the latest version of the PlayCase!
It feels like just yesterday I started this journey, fueled by my dream for a way to easily adapt my phone into a game boy. What started as a brute force push into the void has, through countless hours of dedication and learning, blossomed into something I think has become truly special.
Since the first version, I’ve learned about the intricacies of snap-fitting parts and optimizing design strength through print orientation, to experimenting with different filaments and mastering the art of printing super-soft TPU to create genuine button membranes – every step has been a learning experience.
It’s been a wild ride of iteration and improvement, all driven by a desire to make the best possible experience.
Building and scaling a product, especially as a one-person operation, has had its unique challenges. Fulfillment is a beast, but I’m committed to growing in a way that ensures every single PlayCase meets the high standards of quality, functionality and support I’d expect from a manufactured product.
This isn’t just an update; it’s a complete rework. This third generation is packed with significant upgrades that I hope bridges the gap that many others have tried to fill. I’ve poured all that learning and iteration into making this version of the PlayCase more reliable, responsive, and simply more enjoyable to use.
Here’s what’s new and improved:
- Counter force on triggers: The new trigger system now uses rubber bands to provide a satisfying counter-force, making them much more reliable responsive
- Enhanced Front-Facing Buttons: I’ve incorporated 3D-printed TPU membranes for front-facing buttons, offering a more tactile feel
- Easily Replaceable Screen Contacts: The screen facing buttons now use easily replaceable TPU contacts, and each PlayCase will ship with a sleeve of replacements.
- Optimized Faceplate Design: The slots to snap the faceplate into the case are now separate parts, printed to optimize strength and reliability, ensuring a secure and durable snap. There is also a second slot to stabilize the faceplate once attached.
The new PlayCase is available for iPhone 13, 15 Pro, and 16 Pro Max.

I’m incredibly grateful for your support on this journey, and I genuinely believe you’ll feel the difference with this new generation. Thanks for your support!!
